Brocade tested products that include a selection of our 16G and 32G transceivers, multiplexers, and active open-line systems, which address dispersion and amplification and allow for smart, long-distance connectivity based on embedded DWDM principles. Using the Smartoptics DCP-M solution, customers can expect ranges of up to the typical 80 km for both 16G and 32G FC.
Unlike previous switch generations, Brocade Gen 7 requires secure optics functionality, meaning only certified transceivers can be used with Brocade Gen 7 switches. Non-approved, third-party optics may not even be recognised when inserted. The Smartoptics 16G and 32G FC transceivers are the only certified DWDM optics to be used with Brocade Gen 7. The Smartoptics solutions also fully support the powerful diagnostics, troubleshooting, and loopback features that come with Gen 7, which are directly out of the box and without any manual configuration needed.
